Shirley Ann (Ruby) Thomas

Shirley Ann (Ruby) Thomas, 95 years young, passed away peacefully on Dec. 18, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society in Albion.

A private graveside service will be at a later date.

Shirley was born Feb. 16, 1928 to Harry and Pearl (Campbell) Ruby at their home in North Star. She graduated from Fullerton High School in 1946. On Feb. 1, 1948, she married Dale T. Thomas. To this union, they had three sons. They worked side by side in the carnival business until Dale’s passing in 1990.

Shirley had a love for painting, especially lighthouses. She enjoyed crafting and sewing and she loved to travel. Shirley and her special friend, Richard Holmes, spent many years wintering in Texas and many other travels. Shirley moved to Valley View Assisted Living in Fullerton in 2017, where she enjoyed her life until her recent move to Albion.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Pearl Ruby; her husband, Dale T. Thomas; her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Penny Thomas; and her special friend, Richard (Joe) Holmes.

Shirley is survived by her sons, Jerry (Jud) Thomas of Texas and Richard (Sandy) Thomas of Belgrade; five grandchildren, Heath (Susan) Thomas of St. Paul, James (Emily) Thomas of Fullerton, Missy, Ben, and Mandy Thomas of Texas; step-grandchild, Beth Ann Metz of Belgrade; and many great-grandchildren and friends.
