As a result of rising printing and postage costs, the Nance County Journal is increasing the cost of an annual subscription to the newspaper.
The cost for a one-year subscription is now $45 for residents in Nebraska and $50 for residents outside of Nebraska. A digital subscription to the NCJ website is $35 and includes the weekly newspaper e-mailed to the users’ e-mail address, as well as full access to all the articles on the website. Print subscribers receive free access to the e-edition and the website.
“It was a difficult decision, but one that needed to be made,” NCJ co-owner Rick Holtz said. “The increase comes out to less than $0.10 per week for subscribers.”
The new prices went into effect Jan. 1.
The rate increase will only be seen when a subscription comes due. Current subscribers can see when their subscription is up by looking at the mailing label in the upper right corner of the newspaper. The NCJ staff marks newspapers coming to the end of their subscription with a red “X.”
Single copies of the newspaper will still be $1 and available at select stores around Fullerton. The newspaper will soon be available at Dollar General in Genoa.
“We are excited about the single copy expansion into Genoa,” Holtz said. “We have had a number of people ask when the newspaper would be available in Genoa and that is coming in early 2024.”
