Donna Lou (Bishop) Liske, 87, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in Albion.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. Mass Celebrants will be Father Lawrence Vadakkan and Deacon Paul Nordhues. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 5:307:00 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Family’s Choice for future designation. T.J. Condolences may be left at www.ordmemorialchapel. com Donna was born Jan. 22, 1937, to Roy Miles and Helen Louise (Sidders) Bishop in Fullerton. She graduated from Fullerton High School in 1954. Donna received 2 years of Normal Training while in high school; and was able to teach in her home school, District #27 later that fall. She taught school her whole life in Nance County and then in Greeley County at O’Connor, Bauer & Flanigan School, Horace; then at Greeley Public Schools where she taught for 14 years in the 5th and 6th grades.
Donna graduated from Kearney State College in 1972, after many years of summer school and night classes. She ended her career as a substitute teacher at Central Valley School.
On Aug. 2, 1958, Donna was united in marriage to Donald August Liske at the Lutheran Church in Fullerton. The couple moved to Greeley in the fall of 1960. In 1983, they bought the “Brick Palace” and operated it until 1989. Don passed away on March 14, 2011.
Donna enjoyed bowling for 35 years, dancing, reading, flowers, crossword puzzles, casinos, and playing double pinochle. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters.
She is survived by brother-in law and sister-in-law, Leo and Maxine Liske of Grand Island; sisters-in-law, Karen Liske of Omaha, Arlene Andreason of Grand Island and Darlene Albright of Grand Island; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don; brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Janet Bishop; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Steve Equall; brothers-in-law, EarlAlbright,AlAndreason, and Harold Liske; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marjorie and Gilbert McBride.
