Richard Charles 'Rick' Swanson

Richard Charles “Rick” Swanson, 69, of Genoa, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Genoa. Visitation is Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the church. Visitation will continue from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial is in Valley View Cemetery. Arrangements are with McKown Funeral Home in Genoa.

Richard “Rick” Swanson was born Sept. 28, 1955, to Alfred and Florence (Christensen) Swanson in Genoa. He attended and graduated from Genoa High School in 1973. He then worked at the grain elevator in Genoa, Lindsay Manufacturing, and for Ed Johnson. Rick enjoyed hunting, watching his grandkids participate in sports and going to livestock sales.

Rick was a friend to many. He enjoyed drinking a cold beer with his friends and eating a slice of coconut cream pie any chance he could. He also loved his dog, Harley, and taking care of his cows.

He is survived by son, Brent (Pam) Swanson of Genoa; daughters, Brenda (Chad) Buhl of Genoa and Brooke (Joe) Kleckner of Genoa; grandchildren, Devon (Jessica) Korth, Chase Buhl, Kadin Buhl, Ryder Kleckner, Annabelle Kleckner and Raina Swanson; sisters, Christine Swanson, Cindy Bird and Ann (Ken) Kildare and brother, Bob (Laurie) Swanson. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Brian Swanson; granddaughter, Molly Kleckner; and brother-in-law, Jerry Atkins.
