Steven Edwin Nesbitt

Aug. 8, 1950 - Feb. 1, 2025

Steven Edwin Nesbitt passed away Feb. 1, 2025.

Mr. Nesbitt was born to Oliver and Mary Kathleen (Katie) Nesbitt on Aug. 8, 1950, in Grand Island. He was a graduate of Fullerton High School in Fullerton, class of 1968, and went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota in 1972 with a degree in Mortuary Science.

Following university, Steve lived and worked in Seward, where he spent many of the next years working for Wood Brother’s Funeral Home, Hughes Brothers Manufacturing, and as the Safety Director for Nebraska Public Power District. After moving to Lincoln, Steve finished his career as the Director of Safety for Crete Carriers, retiring just in time to enjoy endless rounds of golf.

Steve was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was active and athletic, and enjoyed playing softball while also coaching and umpiring Nebraska Legion baseball and refereeing countless high school basketball games across the state of Nebraska.

While Steve left us far too soon, the impact he had on so many lives spanning from Fullerton to Seward to Lincoln Nebraska and in between, will be felt for years to come.

Steve is survived by his wife, Ginny Nesbitt; his brother, Tom Nesbitt and sister-in-law Deb (Kullbom) Nesbitt; his daughter, Jamie (Nesbitt) Hagen and his son-in-law Brian Hagen of Chicago, Ill.; his son, Tony Nesbitt and his daughter-in-law Heather (Foreman) Nesbitt of Grand Prairie, Texas; and eight precious grandchildren, Zailynn Nesbitt, Zarra Nesbitt, Zalaya Nesbitt, Braxton Nesbitt, Zenley Nesbitt, Palmer Hagen, Bryson Nesbitt, and Brody Nesbitt.

Steve is preceded in death by his father, Oliver Nesbitt; and mother, Mary Kathleen (Denton) Nesbitt.
