Power School offering protection

FULLERTON — Free identity protection and credit monitoring is being offered to people who were affected by the recent PowerSchool data breach.

Fullerton Schools announced last week that PowerSchool is working with Experian, a trusted credit reporting agency, to provide the services. Experian will be sending out emails in the coming weeks to affected individuals.

“PowerSchool is offering two years of complimentary identity protection services for all current and former students and educators whose information was determined to be involved,” Hardeep Gulati, chief executive officer of PowerSchool, said in a statement. “We are also offering two years of complimentary credit monitoring services for all adult students and educators whose information was determined to be involved. We are doing this regardless of whether an individual’s Social Security Number was exfiltrated.”

Additionally, PowerSchool has worked with Experian to set up a dedicated, toll-free call center to answer any questions associated with the offerings and the incident. All information regarding the activation of and access to these services will be included in the email sent by Experience.

According to the PowerSchool website, individuals who plan to sign up for the services must register by May 30, 2025. The data breach occurred in late December last year.
