Guy S. Scheffler, son of Virgil and Lorane (Flock) Scheffler, was born on Sept. 5, 1949, in Albion. He was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Albion on May 24, 1959, and attended Albion High School until 1968.
Guy was united in marriage to Karen L. Spiegel on November 24, 1967, at Albion Baptist Church and from this union was blessed with Tony, Sandy, and Greg. For 46 years the couple raised their family in the Albion and St. Edward area. Karen’s untimely passing on June 4, 2014, left an unimaginable hole in Guy’s life that was eventually filled when he met Angela Amos. On Nov. 30, 2024, Guy married Angela at their home in St. Edward, to which he gained three stepsons, Keaton, Joshua, and Nathan.
Guy never met a stranger and was a mentor to many of the local youth, as he loved teaching and sharing his life’s knowledge about racing, blacksmithing, hotrods, fishing, or just dirt road riding looking for cars. Guy loved his family deeply and was never hesitant to share that love with whomever needed it. He was a blacksmith by trade and was always up for the challenge of fixing the unfixable piece of farm machinery or building some new creation he drew on a piece of paper. Guy was affectionately known as a jack of all trades and the stories that are told of things he has done are legendary! He enjoyed fishing, camping, dirt racing, traveling, and hot rods. He also liked playing cards and games and always made sure it was “Guy Win’s”.
Guy is survived by his wife, Angela Amos of the home; two sons, Tony (Janelle) of Fullerton and Greg (Sandra) of Pittsburg, Mo.; his daughter, Sandra (Mike) of Comstock; three stepsons, Keaton of Clay Center, Joshua (Cary) of Clay Center and Nathan (Felicia) of Platte Center; his very best friend, Gene Shively of St. Edward; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings, David (Carol) Scheffler of Newman Grove, Connie Nienaber of Lindsay, Jim (Linda) Scheffler of St. Edward and Cathy (Steve) Young of St. Edward; many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and the best four-legged companions anyone could ask for, Milo, Gya, Turbo, and Stella.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Karen Scheffler; brother-in-law, Bill Nienaber; and four-legged companions, Disney and Lucky.
