LaVern Arthur Loftus

May 31, 1951 - June 5, 2025

LaVern Arthur Loftus, 74, of Wichita, Kan., passed away on June 5, 2025. Originally from Fullerton, LaVern never stopped cheering for the Huskers or loving his hometown. He worked for many years as a jig and fixture builder at Cessna, where he took pride in his craft and made lasting friendships along the way.

LaVern had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor — quirky, and always ready with a grin. He had a lifelong love for hot rods and drag racing, and he was a regular at local car shows.

He is survived by his children: Tabetha Lewis (and her husband Scott), Amy Loftus, and Rev. Sarah Brack (and her husband Landon); and his grandkids: Tristen, Eric, Connor, Duncan, and Marin Lewis, who brought him endless joy.

LaVern was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Art Loftus, and his son, Matthew Loftus.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 13 at 10:30 a.m. at River Church in Haysville, Kan., with Pastor Monte Leichner officiating. A graveside service will take place in Fullerton at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, led by his daughter, Pastor Sarah Brack.

LaVern will be remembered for his humor, his heart, and his love of family and fast cars.
