Rosie was born on July 21, 1929, in Belgrade to Preston and Lucy (Nichols) Bishop. She graduated from Belgrade High School. On Dec. 26, 1949, she was united in marriage to Lawrence “Dutch” Greger in Maryville, Kan. The couple made their home in Cedar Rapids for a few years before moving to Davenport, Iowa, and later returned to the Belgrade area in the 1960s.
Rosie loved gardening and canning, and she enjoyed taking road trips along the backroads near Belgrade. One of the highlights of her life was attending a Dan Seals concert. She loved hearing stories about her grandchildren and always made sure to send them rice crispy treats and plenty of groceries. Though she wasn’t fond of the stray cats around her house, she didn’t let them go hungry, and she continued to feed them anyway.
She is survived by her children, Allen Greger of Columbus, Bob Greger of Belgrade, Rosanne (Russ) Christensen of Belgrade, Terry Greger of Belgrade, Pam McKown of Belgrade, and Scott (Cyndi) Greger of Cedar Rapids; 24 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild; daughter-in-law, Gwen Greger of Belgrade; brothers, Preston Bishop of Kileen, Texas, and Fred Bishop of Nebraska City; sister, Sheryl Hurska of Tuscan, Ariz.; brother-in-law, Rich Collins of Elyria; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; son, Dan Greger; her parents, Preston and Lucy Bishop; sisters, Goldie (Nelson) Weller, Georgie Collins, Ruby (Ralph) Bridger, and Fairy Welch; and brother, Jesse (Tandra) Bishop.
