LINCOLN — Nebraska Public Media’s music performance television series “JAM” returns with a new season featuring intimate interviews and powerful performances from three distinctive artists whose careers span roots, soul and Americana music.
Premiering at 8 p.m., Monday, Aug. 17 on Nebraska Public Media, “JAM” explores songwriting, musical roots, creative reinvention and the rewards and realities of a life in music through candid interviews and performances from music venues and the Ron Hull Studio at Nebraska Public Media in Lincoln.
Featured artists include Omaha roots-Americana singer-songwriter Jeni Grouws, Lincoln soul powerhouse Josh Hoyer and his newly reformed Josh Hoyer’s Colossal 4, and Nashville-based Darrell Scott, a four-time Grammy nominee and 2025 Americana Music Association Lifetime Achievement honoree.
One thing viewers will notice about all three artists is their authenticity, said Michele Wolford, producer of “JAM.”
“Whether it’s Jeni’s powerful storytelling, Josh’s soulful connection to his music or Darrell’s legendary songwriting, each artist brings something extraordinary to the stage,” she said. “’JAM’ gives viewers a front-row seat to the performances – and the stories behind the music.”
Season 4 episodes include:
Aug. 17 – Jeni Grouws
Known for soul-deep vocals, powerful songwriting and a driving roots-Americana sound, Grouws shares the stories and inspirations behind her music through conversation and performance. Currently based in Omaha through a multi-year songwriting residency at The Music House, she is expanding her work as a solo artist.
Aug. 24 – Josh Hoyer’s Colossal 4
Following his band’s victory at the 2025 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Lincoln soul musician Josh Hoyer and his newly reformed Colossal 4 band reflect on their musical journey and perform selections from their soulful catalog at the legendary Zoo Bar.
Aug. 31 – Darrell Scott
Four-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Darrell Scott, recipient of the 2025 Americana Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award, reflects on the roots, roads and experiences that shaped his acclaimed career. With filming at The Lark in Hastings, the episode features candid conversation and performances spanning some of Scott’s best-known songs, personal favorites and new music.
Sept. 7 – The Best of Season 4
A collection of standout interviews and performances from JAM Season 4.
“What excites me most about ‘JAM’ is introducing audiences to music they may not have discovered otherwise,” Wolford said. “There are incredibly talented musicians creating original work right here in Nebraska, and there are remarkable artists who regularly make Nebraska part of their journey. As a public media organization, we have an opportunity to connect people with the artists, venues and creative communities that make our state such a vibrant place.”
