Bennett (Ben) Charles Bish

March 30, 1957 - June 10, 2023

Bennett (Ben) Charles Bish, 67, passed away peacefully with family at his side on June 10, 2023, in Cheyenne Wyo., after a courageous battle with cancer. A private family memorial was held in Denver, CO on June 23, 2023.

Ben was born March 30, 1957 in Fullerton, Nebraska to Dorothy (Florea) and J. William (Bill) Bish. He was a graduate of Fullerton Public High School in 1975. He received his Bachelor of Arts degrees from Doane College in 1979 in Mathematics and Natural Science. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska Lincoln in Geology in 1981. He worked as a geologist and later as a journeyman electrician.

Being a geologist, Ben was a fervent rock hound and accumulated an extensive collection of treasures. He was fascinated with the geological history of the land and loved teaching others about the exposed geological layers of the earth’s crust. Ben enjoyed being outdoors, hiking in the mountains, hunting, and water sports. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

He was survived by Elizabeth Bish and her partner Thomas Amend of Gloucester, Mass., Phillip and Joyce (Dush) Bish of Centennial, Colo., Aimee (Bish) and Mike Bannister of Annapolis, Md.; nieces Dana (Bish) McCausland, Leslie Bish and Samantha Bannister.
