Francis Guy Stetz, son of Francis Henry and Marian Elizabeth (Uzendoski) Stetz, was born on Aug. 8, 1934, on the family farm near Genoa. He was baptized at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Genoa. He attended Genoa public schools and graduated in 1951. After graduation he continued to help his father on the family farm, and he was a Sergeant in the Army Reserves and a Jeep mechanic.

On Aug. 14, 1965, Francis was united in marriage to Helen Jane Murcek at St. Isidore’s Catholic Church in Columbus. This was the first wedding that was held in the newly built church. The couple made their home on a farm 6 miles south of St. Edward. There the couple raised their three children.

Francis farmed for over 50 years. He started on his parents’ farm and eventually took over the farm. He raised cattle and hogs along with planting corn, soybeans, milo, wheat, oats and alfalfa through all the years.

Francis was a member of the St. Edward Catholic Church. He was the president of Nance County National Farmers Organization, part of the parish council and former EME. Francis enjoyed fabricating, tinkering with things, and working in his shop. Some of his fondest memories were of taking his kids fishing on Sunday afternoon.

Francis is survived by his wife, Helen Stetz of St. Edward; children, Edward Stetz of Lincoln, Sharon (Bruce) Fustos of Papillion, and Larry (Kendra) Stetz of Xenia, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Nicole and Emily Fustos, Samantha, Lauren, Kaycie, Sarah and Joshua Stetz; brothers, Rev.
