Gerald “Terry” Foland, 86, of Fullerton, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Palmer-Santin Funeral Home in Fullerton, with Pastor Jim Mitchell officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at Main Cemetery in Belgrade, with military honors provided by Belgrade American Legion Post #99 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is serving the family.
Terry was born Aug. 27, 1939, in Belgrade to Russell and Emma (Reeves) Foland. He graduated from Belgrade High School in 1956 and went on to serve in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge in 1959.
On Sept. 26, 1958, he was united in marriage to Margie Harris, and the couple made their home in Fullerton. In 1962, Terry began his career as a Nebraska State Trooper based in North Platte. He later worked as a safety director for Pacific Intermountain Express before transitioning into a trucking role with the company, eventually becoming a transportation manager. He later operated his own trucking business and continued working in the industry with ABF Trucking until his retirement. He drove over three million miles without an accident.
In 1975, Terry married Monica Dostal, and they lived in Omaha, Denver, and Kansas City. Monica passed away in 1998. In 1999, Terry reunited with his first wife, Margie, and they lived in Cheyenne, Wyo., Pharr, Texas, and eventually returned to Fullerton.
Terry enjoyed riding motorcycles, trap shooting, reading, and playing cards until he was no longer able to shuffle. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Margie of Fullerton; daughters, Deb (Jerry) Collins and Becky (Omar) Yanes; son, Rob (Kate) Foland; 26 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Jim Borgheiinck; stepchildren, Dave Dostal, Sandy Flanery, Roy Bridger, and Matt Bridger; brothers, Lowell Foland and Tom (Phyllis) Foland; sister, Ann Sebastian; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Borgheiinck; his parents; stepdaughter, Jody Dostal; sister-in-law, Marilyn Foland; and brother-in-law, Gene Sebastian.
