James E. Mitchell of Fullerton passed away after a life devoted to serving the Lord, his family, and others. He had lived in Fullerton for the past year and was formerly from Preston, Idaho.
James spent 36 years in ministry, pastoring nine churches across the country. He served under Baptist Church Planters and was currently serving at Victory Baptist Church in Fullerton and Grace Baptist Church in Genoa. He also enjoyed hunting.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jurrena Mitchell.
James is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janice Mitchell of Fullerton; his father, James Mitchell of Sebring, Fla.; his children, Janelle (Stephen) Jespersen of Preston, Idaho, Jared (Becca) Mitchell of Canton, Ga., Julene (Ross) Lundquist of Williston, N.D., and Jamin (Jessica) Mitchell of Van, Texas. He is also survived by his siblings, Joan (Robert) Thomas, Joy (Keith) Neds, Jodi (Kevin) Mills, and Jonathan (Melanie) Mitchell; and by his 11 grandchildren: Jessa, Liam, Piper, Lucy, Logan, Jadon, Tucker, Brinley, Drew, Jace, and Zane.
A celebration of life will be held for James at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Nance County Event Center, 406 N. Ida St., Fullerton. There will be a lunch served after Jim's celebration of life service. Please RSVP at 715-224-9557 by Monday, July 20.
