Mildred Catherine Miksch

Mildred Catherine Miksch, age 96, died Dec. 16, 2023.

Mass of Christian Burial is 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20 at St. Isidore Catholic Church. There will be a 3 p.m. CDA Rosary on Tuesday with visitation to follow until 5:30 p.m., all at the Church. There will be a 5:30 p.m. Vigil service on Tuesday, also at the Church. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning at St. Isidore Catholic Church from 9 a.m. until service time.

Mildred was born on Jan. 20, 1927 in Humphrey to John and Stella (Eisenmenger) Olmer. She was the fourth oldest of 11 children. She graduated from St. Francis Catholic High School in 1944. She married Arthur Miksch on Aug. 29, 1950 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Humphrey. To this union five children were born. They lived and farmed northwest of Columbus until retirement when they moved to Columbus.

She loved gardening, flowers, embroidering and most of all, her children, 14 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Isidore’s Catholic Church in Columbus. She was a member of St. Isidore’s Christian Mothers Society of and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She also served as a prayer partner of the St. Isidore prayer line.

She is survived by her children, Marilyn (Allen) Small of Fullerton, Gene of Loveland, Colo., Ron of Columbus, Melvin (Karen) of Columbus, and Joe (Roberta) of Columbus. She is also survived by brothers, Gene (Marge) of Humphrey, Fr. Vernon Olmer of Manitowoc, Wis., Bill (Mary Jo) of Nebraska City and George (Marilyn) of Lincoln, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Stella Olmer; her husband, Arthur in 2009; brothers, Edwin, Bob and Arthur Olmer; sisters, Sr. Marina Olmer, Delores McPhillips and Eleanor McPhillips.
