Robert "Bob" John Ramaekers

Robert "Bob" John Ramaekers, 94, of Genoa, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, at his home in Genoa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023, at 10 a.m., at St. Rose of Lima Church with Fr. Bill L'Heureux celebrating the Mass.  Visitation will be on Friday from 5:30-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. vigil service, all at the church.  Visitation will continue Saturday from 9 a.m. until mass time, also at the church.  Interment will be in Friend Cemetery, rural Monroe.  Memorials are suggest to the Genoa Public Library or the donor's choice.

Robert “Bob” was born April 5, 1929, in Lindsey to Rudolph and Rosina (Ternus) Ramaekers.  He attended Lindsay Public School, Holy Family School and graduated from Genoa High School.  He was united in marriage with Melva Jean Caswell on July 2, 1949, in Table Rock.  They lived in Beatrice, where he started as a Lineman with Consumer Public Power District.  They spent most of their married life in Fullerton and Genoa, where he was a Superintendent for Loup Public Power District.  He also served on the Fullerton and Genoa fire departments and coached youth baseball in his spare time.  He enjoyed playing cards, trips to the casino, attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, and spending time at his cabin on Thunderbird Lake.

Bob is survived by daughters, Connie (Tim) Bosak of Crawford, Linda (Doug) Olson of Genoa and Lori Fried of Grand Island; son, Tom (Pam) Ramaekers of Genoa; daughter-in-law, Monica (Jay) Wright of Genoa; sister, Joan Kuntz of Genoa; sister-in-law, Helen Ramaekers of Lincoln; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Rosina Ramaekers; wife, Melva Ramaekers; son, David Ramaekers; grandson, Taylor Fried; sisters, Jeanette (Gilbert) Anderson and Arlene Somerhiser; brothers, Bill and Jack Ramaekers; and brother-in-law, Larry Kuntz
