Robert (Rob) Hunnicutt, 68, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2025, at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 25, at Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. Rev. Bob Gannon will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of family to be designated at a later date. Robert ‘Rob’Eugene Hunnicutt, was born in Kansas City, Kan., on May 21, 1956, and was raised by Loren and Doris (Zehr) Hunnicutt. Rob passed away at home surrounded by his family in Aurora on April 20, 2025, at the age of 68.
Rob grew up in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School in 1974. He attended Grace Bible Institute and Hastings Tech College. Rob farmed with his father and in the winters was a ski-lift operator in Breckenridge, Colo.
On Aug. 24, 1985, he was united in marriage to Jill Zabka in Fullerton. They had two children: Eric and Ashley. After farming, Rob went to work for Case-New Holland in Grand Island as a welder and machinist. Closer to retirement, Rob went on to work part-time for NAPA in Hastings.
Rob was a member of Pleasant View Church in Aurora. He enjoyed working on cars, camping with friends, attending Husker baseball and football games. Rob loved spending time with his granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Doris Hunnicutt; in-laws, William and Helen Zabka; several aunts, uncles and other family members.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 39 years, Jill Hunnicutt of Aurora; son, Eric (Andrea) Hunnicutt of Aurora; daughter, Ashley Hunnicutt of Lincoln; three granddaughters, Kennedy, Everly and Aubrey Hunnicutt of Aurora; sister, Vicki Hunnicutt of Aurora; aunt, Marleen Casperson of Boelus; and other family members and friends.
