Terry Reynolds, 72, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023, at his home in Columbus.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Gass Haney Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Bennett officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 1 p.m. until service time, also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Hartman Post 84. The funeral service will be broadcast live on the Gass Haney Facebook page. Memorials may be directed to the Columbus Rescue Mission.
Terrance Lee Reynolds was born on July 11, 1951, in North Platte, to David and Zalia Mae (Jackson) Reynolds. He grew up near the stockyards in North Platte and then graduated from Scottsbluff High School. He served in the Army National Guard from 1969 to 1978. On Aug. 13, 1971, Terry was united in marriage to Melinda Van Arsdale at the Church of the Nazarene in Scottsbluff.
Terry attended the Colorado State Patrol Academy and served as a state trooper for 8 years before moving to Arizona, where he served 2 years as a detention officer. He then graduated from the Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy and served as a police officer in Glendale, Arizona for 12 years, until his retirement. Terry and Melinda moved to Fullerton to be closer to family and eventually settled in Columbus.
Terry loved people and always made them laugh. He enjoyed woodworking and building things like arbors and decks. He also enjoyed shopping for antiques, liked to travel, loved music from the 1960s and football, liked going to coffee and being with good friends. Terry loved God, family, friends, and country.
Terry is survived by his wife, Melinda Reynolds of Columbus; daughters: Julie Reynolds of Columbus and Jenell (Cody) Martin of Columbus; granddaughter, Elissia McPhillips – Reynolds of Columbus; Grandson, Gabriel Reuling of Columbus; sister, Rojean Reynolds of Oregon; brothers, Monte (Vangy) Reynolds of Nebraska, Randy (Terri Jo) Reynolds of Evans, Colo., and Brian (Laurie) Reynolds of Massachusetts; and nieces and nephews.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Russell David and Zalia Mae Reynolds; and brothers, Brice Reynolds and Raylan Reynolds.
