Verlyn M. (Gotschall) Farrar
RIVERA, TX – Verlyn M. (Gotschall) Farrar of Rivera, TX, passed away November 2, 2022, at age 98. Verlyn was born December 18, 1923, to Glen and Astrid (Nelson) Gotschall at Chalco, NE. They moved to Springfield, South Dakota, at age three then to a farm near Niobrara, NE, where she graduated from elementary school. She graduated from Monroe (Nebraska) High in 1942.
Verlyn worked at Tooleys Drug in Columbus, NE, until her marriage to Francis W. Farrar on July 3, 1943. They farmed 36 years in Platte and Nance Counties. They were blessed with three children, Cheryl Ann, Larry Francis, and Janet Kay. Verlyn was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening, reading, painting, and family. Verlyn was a member of the Methodist Church for over 65 years. She is survived by Cheryl (Richard) Chmiel, Larry Farrar, and Janet Wragge; six grandchildren, Kevin (Robin) Chmiel, Dr. Christopher (Melanie) Chmiel, Troy (Gail) Chmiel, Larry Eric Farrar, Kelsie (Tyler) Wragge Virgl, and Michelle (Ron) Wragge; brother Dennis (Jean) Gotschall; sisters-in-law Dorthy Gotschall, Bonnie Loyd, and Martha Gotschall; great-grandchildren TJ, Alex, Renee, Sophia, Meridith, Henry, Christian, and Maximus Chmiel; great-granddaughters Brystol Wragge Evans and Harper Virgl; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by son-in-law Mitchell Wragge, grandson Gregory A. Farrar, and infant grandson Richard D. Chmiel.
A private family memorial service will be held in the spring at Friends Cemetery in Monroe, NE.
