Let me tell you a little bit about myself

Hello friends! I was working on this week’s newspaper and it finally dawned on me. We have not been properly introduced. Sure in the last month I have gotten to know some of you when you stop by the office or when we have talked on the phone.

Voter ID is just one step in the process

In the 2022 election, Nebraskans voted overwhelmingly to join 35 other states in implementing Voter ID. While most agree the integrity of our elections is of utmost importance, we have seen voter fraud on the rise in many parts of the country.

Looking back and looking to the future

Beth and I talked to a fellow newspaper owner in the state who said that it is rare for a husband and wife to both write a column. I hadn’t really thought about it before. We both like to write, and we have different topics that we pursue. I’m glad we’re able to do it.

NCJ is moving forward

Voter ID bill highlights rift in the party in power

Opinions Are Good: Keep the Dialogue Going

Hello friends! I came into the office a couple of days ago and was welcomed with a little fan mail in the NCJ e-mail. One of our readers did not like that the Nance County Journal has expanded our opinion pages and that we are publishing personal columns.

Amid nasty debate about social issues, filibustering and theater playing out in the legislative chamber, lawmakers did manage to meet their constitutional obligation and pass a balanced budget on day 80 of the 90-day session. The two-year budget calls for about $5.

Following college and a year of full time work at KOLNTV, I joined theAir Force and received my commission as a lieutenant in Officer’s Training School in San Antonio, Texas. One of the very first things we learned in leadership training was how not to lead.

I Love Visiting Cemeteries

Memorial Day is special to me, and not just because it’s close to my birthday. The Lord knew what he was doing. He knew I would love cemeteries. I started going to cemeteries with my mom, grandma and aunt around Memorial Day to decorate graves.

Grace What is Your Ebenezer?

This past weekend many observed Memorial Day. For some, the day merely meant a day off from work. For others, it was a day of gathering with family and friends for the first picnic of the season.
