We Are In A Pickle

We’re in a bit of a pickle at our newspapers. Both our employees at the Nance County Journal quit. We had one applicant, who we hired, and that doesn’t look like it’s going to work out. We are now two people running two newspapers. We will try to be in both offices as much as possible.

Last week, I had the opportunity to travel home to Nebraska and visit with many of you in the state. It’s always a delight to be back home interacting with fellow Nebraskans, and I’m thankful I was able to participate in some great events.

We live in an amazing age. We can talk to our devices, and they talk back to us. Sometimes it takes a few attempts before they understand us, but it’s still pretty amazing. Sometimes that process is funny, and sometimes it is frustrating.

Missing out on Spring Cleaning Well, dang! I’ve just learned that the fourth Sunday of March kicked off National Spring Cleaning Week, seven glorious days set aside to celebrate our instinct to clean, and I missed it. Maybe because I don’t have an instinct to clean.

Internet connectivity is a must for businesses, schools and homes. It is a part of our everyday life. However, there are large areas of rural Nebraska without high speed internet access. Broadband is the physical connection that runs from an internet service provider company to your property.

It’s interesting how the big events in life are burned into our memories. I remember where I was when I heard that jets flew into the twin towers in New York. I was in gym class when my teacher told us about the space shuttle Challenger disaster.
