State Cross-Country 2022 wraps up the year with three Warriors

The Fullerton Warriors crosscountry team sent three runners to the Kearney Country Club on Friday, Oct. 21st, including senior, Julianna Maxfield, sophomore Morgan Supik and junior, Justin Horn. The Fullerton cross-country team wrapped up their 7th year. To qualify for the state meet six out those seven years is something we do not take for granted. The Girls’ Varsity team claimed three titles this year. The Lady Warriors were named Champions in Loup City for the fourth year in a row. They also claimed runner-up at the Ord Invite and at the Goldenrod Conference meet. Senior Julianna Maxfield competed in her last race of her high school cross-country career in 35th with a time of 22:12. Maxfield has qualified individually all four years and has proven herself as a consistent and strong runner throughout her time as a cross-country runner.

Maxfield has logged over 800 miles throughout her summers earning 200-Mile Club status all four years. Her summer mileage and dedication to the sport during the cross-country season have served her well as she has won a medal at almost every single meet she competed in. Maxfield will be the first athlete in Fullerton’s history to pursue cross-country at the collegiate level. Maxfield has been recruited by Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas, to run crosscountry and track.

Sophomore Morgan Supik made her mark as a cross-country runner this season. As a new addition to the team, Morgan earned several medals throughout the season and stamped her ticket to the state meet. She ended up 76th out of 124 runners with a time of 23:27.

Junior Justin Horn finished in the top 25 in 24th place out of 128 male competitors. He ran a strong race with a time of 18:01, cutting 15 seconds from his time at state last year. Justin never left a meet empty handed all season. He continues to prove himself as a leader on our team both academically and athletically.

The support from the community is always remarkable; the Fullerton cross-country team would like to thank the Fullerton Volunteer Fire Department as well as the Fullerton Law Enforcement for their parade of lights out of town to the state meet. Special thanks also goes out to First Bank and Trust of Fullerton and Points West Bank for their monetary donation supporting our state qualifiers. Our Fullerton Booster Club donated our state T-shirts and Fullerton Public Schools sent our qualifiers off with a monetary donation as well. Our coaches and athletes feel supported and we are beyond grateful for the continuous encouragement our community gives. It was a great day to be Warrior!
