Titans win defensive battle

GENOA — The Titans has shown they can put up a lot of points this season. On Friday they showed they can win a defensive battle.Twin River (2-1) earned a Homecoming win, defeating Heartland 28-16.“It was a gutsy performance,” Twin River coach Kalin Koch said.

CEDAR BLUFFS — Fullerton stayed perfect on the season Friday, running over Cedar Bluffs in a 62-22 road win.The Warriors (3-0) jumped out to a quick lead, scoring on their first play from the line of scrimmage. Sophomore Cael Dubas took the snap and ran the ball 59 yards to put his team ahead.

Warriors have busy golf week

FRIEND — Fullerton completed a busy golf week with a quad and two invites.The Warriors were at Galaway Creek Golf Course twice, once for the Hampton-Henderson quad on Tuesday and their invite on Thursday. Then on Saturday they traveled to Friend for the Exeter-Milligan Invite.

Titans runner-up at invite

COLUMBUS — Class C No. 9 Twin River finished as runner-up at the Lakeview Invite over the weekend.The Titans defeated Adams Central 14-1 and Lakeview 13-6 before falling to York 6-2. Earlier in the week, Twin River picked up wins over Polk County (16-14) and Highway 91 (12-1).

DAYKIN — The Titans picked up their first win of the season — and nearly walked away with two.Twin River split a triangular on Thursday at Meridian, falling 28-26, 25-23 to the host and defeating McCool Junction 25-17, 25-14.

Warriors shorthanded at invite

LOUP CITY — The Warriors were running short-handed last week at the Rebel Invite at the Loup City Golf Course.Both the boys and girls teams were down a runner, keeping Fullerton from placing in the team standings. Kenesaw took home the boys team title and Elm Creek took home the girls team title.

CEDAR RAPIDS — The Warriors picked up their first win of the season on Saturday at the Riverside Invite.Fullerton defeated Chambers/Wheeler Central, 24-26, 25-15, 25-23, in a back-and-forth match. The Warriors also lost on Saturday to Osmond, 27-25, 12-25, 25-13, and Riverside, 27-10, 26-24.

FREMONT — Twin River finished eighth on Thursday at the Joe Wojtkiewicz Invitational at Camp Calvin Crest.Johnson County Central took home the team title, edging East Butler by 3 points.Micah Stenzel finished 11th overall with a time of 22:20.
