New foods at this year's Nebraska State Fair

Most people think of an alligator as something that might bite them, but at the Nebraska State Fair, you’ll have your chance to bite back. How about a Hand-Breaded Prime Fillet Alligator-on-a-Stick? It’s just one of the offerings from new food vendor Mid-State Cookers.

Nebraska students’ environmental artwork to be featured in 2024 “Nebraska: Don’t Waste It!” calendar

The artwork of 13 Nebraska students will be featured in the 2024 “Nebraska: Don’t Waste It!” environmental calendar. The statewide contest is sponsored by the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) and focuses on the importance of waste reduction, recycling and litter cleanup.

COLUMBUS — Columbus Community Hospital recently presented Karen Euteneuer with the Sheaf of Wheat Award for hospital employees who make lasting impressions on patients or their families. Euteneuer is a medical office specialist for the hospital’s home health and hospice department.

Troopers Stop 118 Speeders for 100+ MPH in July

LINCOLN  — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol stopped 118 people for driving at 100 miles per hour or more during the month of July. The effort coincided with the nationwide law enforcement campaign focused on the dangers of speeding.

COLUMBUS — Many teens spend their summer break playing sports, enjoying time with friends or simply relaxing. However, 13 area high school students decided to participate in Columbus Community Hospital’s Health Science Pathway program during their time off of school.
