Capitol illuminated orange for Genoa Indian School

LINCOLN — Winter weather postponed plans to illuminate the Nebraska State Capitol orange to honor the survivors and descendants of the Genoa Indian Industrial School.Originally scheduled to happen on Thursday, Feb. 20, state officials announced that the plans were moved to Feb.

Digging for Truth

GENOA — The search continues this week in Genoa as an archaeological team searches for human remains in connection to the Genoa Indian Industrial School. Last week Nebraska State Archeologist Dave Williams and his team began the process of unearthing a possible site of the school’s cemetery.
