Beef certification training Feb. 22 at fairgrounds

Nebraska Beef Quality Assurance has a certification training scheduled for Feb. 22 in Fullerton. The BQA& BQAT Certification Training will take place Thursday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. in the event building at the Nance County Fairgrounds, located at 406 N. Ida St.

County needs 2 election workers

Nance County needs two more election workers for the May primary. Nance County Clerk Adrian Chlopek said they are still looking for two workers for the Genoa polling location. She said that they can be either Republican or Democrat and do not have to live in Genoa to work the polls.

Schools short on wrestling tickets

Posts on social media have been flying around that some schools are not receiving all the tickets for state wrestling that they requested. This is probably true, but according to NSAA, it’s just a few of the schools. The NSAA assistant director Ron Higdon released a video explaining this.

New show choir wins first awards

Fullerton’s new show choir, 8th & Broadway, competed at the UNL Midwest Cup on Saturday at the Lied Center and were awarded the trophy for Class D. They were also given the Spirit Award by the Big Red Singers. They will be competing on Friday, Feb. 2 in Central City at the NCDA competition.

Residents can apply for early voting

Nebraskans who would like to vote early for the May 14, 2024, statewide primary can now submit early voting applications to their county election office.

Fullerton kids participate in free throw contest

On Sunday January 22nd, the Fullerton Knights of Columbus organization hosted their yearly Free Throw Contest. The contest was held at Fullerton Public School and twenty-four children participated.

DIGGING OUT

It appears the worst is behind us. Nance County residents, as well as people across central Nebraska, find themselves digging out of the second round of winter storms to hit the area in a week. According to the National Weather Service, snow totals in the last week vary from 6 to 10 inches.

FULLERTON — At the beginning of December every resident in Fullerton should have received a survey regarding the material of their incoming water lines. The City of Fullerton is continuing an effort to modernize its water meter and pipe systems.

FULLERTON — It’s not every day you get to talk to a U.S. Congressman. Members of Jeremy Hubel’s eighth grade U.S. History class had the opportunity to participate in a Zoom call with Congressman Adrian Smith on Thursday.
