Toahty selected for Honor Choir

FULLERTON — Every year Northeast Community College hosts “Hawkfest” honor band and choir. Students from all over central and eastern Nebraska audition for the opportunity to participate. This year Fullerton senior Megan Toahty was selected as the only student from Fullerton High School.

Fullerton Fire Department trains during controlled burn

FULLERTON — On Saturday the Fullerton Fire Department was able to conduct a controlled burn of a home donated by Troy and MaryAnn Hellbusch. The fire department was able to use this opportunity as a valuable training experience for their newer members.

Area daycare ‘Steps Up to Quality’

FULLERTON — Cindy Horn started Tiny Treasures Daycare in 2005 as a licensed Family Home Provider. She currently has eight children in her home during the day as well as two more who come after school. “Being a child care provider keeps you on your feet,” Horn said.

FULLERTON — Technology is nothing new in the classroom. In the 1920s it was the radio. In the 1930s the overhead projector was introduced. In 1951 video tapes were introduced, creating a new form of instruction.

Take action to stop bullying in your community

LINCOLN — Bullying can affect a child’s school experience, performance, mental health, and even behavior at home. During the month of October, Nebraskans are encouraged to educate themselves on the signs and harmful effects that these actions can have on the children who experience bullying.

FIRST FIELD TRIP

On Wednesday, October 4th the Fullerton Public School’s Kindergarten class took their first field trip. The class traveled by bus to St. Libory to visit the ScareCrow Patch. The Kindergarteners were able to participate in a variety of fun fall activities.

Fullerton Band makes top 3 at Harvest of Harmony competition

The Fullerton Warrior marching band competed in the Harvest of Harmony parade on Saturday. It was a chilly morning with temperatures in the low 30s when the parade began. Fullerton placed third in Class D out of 44 other competing bands.

Farmers take to fields for harvest

FULLERTON — According to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture, 92 percent of the state’s total land area is utilized by farms and ranches and one in four jobs in Nebraska are related to agriculture.

Fullerton band aims for perfection

FULLERTON — On any given weekday morning, the Fullerton High School marching band can be seen and heard practicing their way through the streets of town. Keeping their feet in time, all 59 members of the band practice their competition song while marching in unison.

THE SOUND OF VICTORY

FULLERTON — In 1966 Fullerton High School welcomed a new football coach Barry Miller. Miller also taught P.E. and Industrial Arts. Sometime during his second year at Fullerton, an idea was formed to have a victory bell at home sporting events.
