Sabata named to All-State Band

FULLERTON — Fullerton freshman Lylla Sabata has been selected to participate in Nebraska’s All-State Band. Being selected for All-State takes months of preparation and dedicated practice. It is one of the highest music honors for a High School student to achieve.

Halloween Happenings

BELGRADE Belgrade Volunteer Fire Dept. will have several firemen at the station handing out Fire safety bags with treats, on Halloween. The Belgrade Methodist Church will be serving pizza to Trick-or-Treaters beginning at 5 p.m. on Halloween at the old firehall.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION: Eagles Club presents comedy ‘Barely Heirs’

FULLERTON — What would you be willing to do for one million dollars? To claim her inheritance, all Jane (Cassie Nelson) has to do is prove she has been married for at least six months. There is only one problem. She doesn’t have a husband and doesn’t intend to go through the trouble of finding one!

One-Act begins creative fundraiser

FULLERTON — The Fullerton High School One-Act students started a new fundraiser this past weekend. Using large stencils, the students painted decals on local driveways. They offered three options: two different Fullerton Warrior logos as well as a University of Nebraska logo.

Fullerton resident publishes first novel

FULLERTON — It takes a long time to write a novel. Joseph Small was born in Columbus and grew up on a farm near Fullerton. He spent his days farming and raising cattle. For the past 5 years he spent his nights working on his first novel, “Footsteps of a Soldier.

Flower Belles Club meets

Fullerton Flower Belles Club met October 20 at Southview Estates. Karon Horn was hostess with 12 members present. Members agreed to purchase additional flower seed packets for a project at the library. This will be in memory of 2 former members, Jeanette Wozniak, and Norma Schweitz.

Blood drive misses quota

Fullerton Bloodmobile was held on October 17. We gathered 54 units, well below our quota. Those loyal donors giving double units were: Craig Christensen, Jack Nelson, Chuck Voichahoske, Doug Cornwell, David Berney and Tom Bialas. The next Bloodmobile will be Tuesday, Dec. 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Nebraska Youth Excel at 2023 National Junior Horticulture Convention

Nebraska youth participated in the National Junior Horticulture Association's (NJHA) Convention in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in October. This event included contests for horticulture identification, floral design and photography.

1st grade visits museum

The first-grade class of Fullerton Public Schools traveled to Grand Island on Oct. 9. The class visited the Stuhr Museum to learn about the Pawnee Indians. The first graders got to see the inside of a hillside sod house and even “build” their own teepee.
