GENOA — Twin River schools has decided to forgo the use of modular classrooms while they complete construction on the new school building.The Twin River Board of Education made the decision Monday night at their special meeting.

Nearly $10k donated to cancer patient

FULLERTON — The Nance County Fair held its annual extreme bull riding competition at the end of June. To add to the excitement this year, a benefit for Brandyn Berlin, a Genoa native, was incorporated into the event.

Annual event returning to Genoa

GENOA — The 34th annual Genoa U.S. Indian School Foundation Recognition and Remembrance Day will be held onAug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Genoa.The gathering will begin with remarks from Foundation members in the air-conditioned St. Rose of Lima Community Center at 116 N. Elm St. in Genoa.

Silver Creek man arrested without his pants

GENOA — A Silver Creek man was arrested Friday morning after going around Genoa without pants on. The Nance County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint at 8:53 a.m. that a white male was acting suspicious and had entered the Dollar General naked from the waist down.
Electrical improvements are being added at the Nance County Fairgrounds. One of the projects is adding additional electricity drops to allow 4-H’ers to plug fans in at the Show Barn. The fans will help keep all the poultry exhibits cool during the 4-H Showcase in July. NCJ photos by Rick Holtz

Upgrades & Improvements

There are a few new upgrades coming to the Nance County Fairgrounds.The Nance County Ag Society is installing additional electricity that will add additional fans in the Show Barn. They are also building a permanent stage on the grounds.

County assessor to host Beacon Day

Nance County Assessor Megan Zoucha would like to invite the community to attend a formal unveiling of the county’s new real estate map and data access website. They are holding a “Beacon Day” on Thursday, June 20 at 10 a.m., in the Nance County Courthouse Board Room.
