Sheriff’s department joins national campaign against drunk driving

Earlier this month the Nance County Sheriffs department increased the number of deputies on the road in order participate in a national campaign called, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.” One person is killed on average every 39 minutes in the United States as a result of drunk driving.

UNK announces dean’s list for 2023 fall semester

KEARNEY — The University of Nebraska at Kearney announced students who earned a place on the dean’s list for the fall 2023 semester. Students who are on the dean’s list must have completed 12 credit hours or more of classes with a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale. Students earn a 4.

Loup board OKs retail rate change for 2024

COLUMBUS. —The Loup Power District Board of Directors approved a 3.5 percent retail rate increase at its monthly December meeting. The increase comes amid increasing material prices and supply chain issues.

Fullerton has long history of blood donations

FULLERTON — On Tuesday, Dec. 12, volunteers from all around Fullerton and Nance County drove to the Nance County Events Center to donate their blood. Fullerton has a rich history of generous bloodmobile donations. The first bloodmobile came to Fullerton on Nov. 29, 1950.

Twin River recognizes duo

Twin River is proud to announce the November students of the month! They are seventh grader Lily Audiss and eighth grader Layney Matthes. Lily is the daughter of Natalie Audiss. Layney is the daughter of Tony and Lisa Matthes. Lily had three different teachers nominate her!

CSC honors graduates

CHADRON — Chadron State College’s Winter Commencement took place Dec. 15 in the Chicoine Center. Jovan Mays, a 2010 CSC graduate, was Chadron State College’s Winter Commencement speaker. One-hundred and six candidates for bachelor’s degrees were honored.
