OMAHA — The Nebraska State Patrol is proud to announce the promotion of two NSP leaders to the rank of captain and two to the rank of lieutenant.

Lt. Noah McNeese has been promoted to Captain of the NSP Training Academy and will serve as NSP Director of Training. Lt. Mike Maytum has been promoted to Captain of NSP Carrier Enforcement and will serve as statewide commander for the Carrier Enforcement Division. Sgt. James Estwick has been promoted to Lieutenant in Troop A – Omaha. Sgt. Justin Ferguson has been promoted to Lieutenant in Troop H – Lincoln.

Captain McNeese is a 26-year veteran of the Nebraska State Patrol. He was initially assigned to the Troop C Patrol Division, where he served for 16 years, before transferring to the NSP Training Academy. Over the last decade, he has trained both new and existing troopers through various assignments at the Training Academy. He has also served on the NSP SWAT Team and Bomb Squad.

Captain Maytum has been with the Nebraska State Patrol for 24 years. He started his career as a non-sworn employee before attending the NSP Training Academy in 2005. Maytum was assigned to the Carrier Enforcement Division, where he has spent his entire career. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance and is a graduate of the Northwestern School of Police and Command.

“These leaders are stepping up to fill critical roles within our agency,” said Colonel Bryan Waugh, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “From training our current and future troopers, to overseeing commercial vehicle safety across the state, to leading our troopers in Nebraska’s most populous areas, these four leaders will have a major impact on our mission to keep Nebraska safe.”

Captain McNeese takes over for Major Andy Ecklund, who was recently promoted to serve as commander of NSP Eastern Operations. Captain Maytum takes over for Captain Martin Denton, who retired in June after a 30-year career serving Nebraska.
