River’s Edge Meat Locker brings needed service to county

FULLERTON — River’s Edge Meat Locker has been in operation since Oct. 18, but they recently had their official Grand Opening during Fullerton’s Old Fashioned Christmas celebration. By opening their business in Fullerton, Brad and Candace Gleason filled a much-needed void in the area.

Fullerton, Nance County and the rest of central Nebraska spent Tuesday digging-out following Monday’s snowfall. The forecast called for nearly a foot of snow in places, but less than 3 inches of snow fell. The wind and blowing snow was more of a problem.

Courthouse Christmas tree winner announced

The winner of the Courthouse Christmas tree contest was the County Clerks office with a peppermint-themed tree. The County Attorney’s office came in second with a patriotic-themed tree. Each office in the courthouse decorated a mini tree.

Christmas storm keeps troopers busy

LINCOLN — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol responded to nearly 150 weather-related incidents on Nebraska roadways on Christmas Day. Troopers responded to 28 crashes and performed 117 motorist assists as much of the state experienced a white Christmas.

Earlier this month the Nance County Sheriffs department increased the number of deputies on the road in order participate in a national campaign called, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.” One person is killed on average every 39 minutes in the United States as a result of drunk driving.
