LINCOLN — September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and every Nebraskan has a role in saving lives. In Nebraska, a person dies by suicide once every 32 hours.

Nebraska State Fair continues to grow in 2023

The Nebraska State Fair announced continued attendance growth in 2023. The attendance at Nebraska’s largest annual event broke 300,000 for the first time since COVID, posting 8.5 percent growth over 2022 with 311,909 guests during its 11-day run ending on Labor Day.

CCC enrollment numbers increase

GRAND ISLAND – Central Community College has announced that its total college-wide enrollment for the fall 2023 semester is 6,636, which is up from 6,209 students at the start of the fall 2022 semester.

The Red Wagon Parade and Pep Rally down Main Street will be at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8. Fullerton will take on Twin River at 7 p.m. on Friday for the Homecoming Game.
The festivities will begin around 3 p.m.

Head Start begins new school year

FULLERTON — Fullerton’s Head Start Preschool started the 2022-2023 school year on August 16th.
A combination of Fullerton and Genoa children make up the nineteen students that are enrolled this year.

CPPD customers give $3,450 in grants

Cornhusker Power Goodwill Fund trustees awarded $3,450 to 16 organizations at the August14 meeting.
“These organizations are doing great things in the community, and we are very proud to be a part of it," Cornhusker Public Power District CEO/GM Clay Gibbs said.
