Nance County Fair opens on Friday

FULLERTON — Come on down to the Nance County Fairgrounds for the annual Nance County Fair from Friday to Sunday. This year the Nance County Ag. Society has decided to organize two different fairs, moving the 4-H exhibit to a later date.

Bridger’s Boomers opens for business

FULLERTON — To the delight of children and the dread of dog owners, fireworks season is officially upon us. Last weekend Bridger’s Boomers opened their doors. The fireworks stand was started six years ago by Matt Bridger and his daughters Sydney and Bailey.

Fullerton Education Association still seeking petition signatures

FULLERTON — Earlier this month, local teachers and representatives from the Nebraska State Education Association held a petition drive at the Fullerton City Park. They gathered signatures in the hopes of repealing a new bill passed by the Legislature and signed by Governor Jim Pillen.

On Monday June 19, Staff from the Boone County Health Center hosted a Fullerton Clinic Appreciation Cookout. From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. the staff served burgers, hot dogs, sides and cookies. The event was hosted on the lawn adjacent to the Nance County Medical Clinic.

Hale graduates from 2023 Junior Law Cadet Academy

GRAND ISLAND — 42 high school students got the chance to train like a trooper last week at the Nebraska State Patrol Training Academy. The cadets were all part of the 53rd Junior Law Academy, which gives high school seniors-to-be a glimpse of what it takes to be a Nebraska State Trooper.

Paige Wood receives prestigious P.E.O. STAR Scholarship

Paige Wood, a recent graduate of Fullerton High School, was selected to receive a $2,500 STAR Scholarship from the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was recommended by P.E.O. ChapterAG of Fullerton. The P.E.O.

Trey Swertzic receives $1,000 Cedar River Bikers scholarship

Trey Swertzic of Fullerton has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Cedar River Bikers. He will be attending Northeast Community College and has been accepted into their lineman program and is currently working as a summer internship here in Fullerton.

Flag pole installed at Nance County Fairgrounds

The Nance County Junior Leaders and 4-H Shooting Sports clubs recently installed flagpoles at the Nance County Fairgrounds. Both clubs applied for and received Development Fund Grants for $400 each from the Nance County 4-H Council for this project.

When the average marriage length in the United States is just under 20 years and the average life expectancy 77, it is refreshing to have the privilege to meet someone who has beaten both statistics by several decades.
