Area schools not immune from teacher shortage

It is a battle you hear about all the time and Nance County school districts are not immune. Nebraska is facing a teacher shortage. Fullerton and Twin River schools, along with all other districts in the region, are battling over the same teacher candidates.

Street Dance a complete success

FULLERTON — The Fullerton Volunteer Fire Department hosted their annual Firemen’s Street Dance fundraiser this past Saturday and the community came out to show their support.

Fullerton increases sports admission

FULLERTON — It will cost a little more to attend Warrior home games in the fall. The Fullerton Public Schools Board of Education voted Monday night to increase admission cost to attend sporting events. The new cost is $6 for adults and $5 for students.

Summer fun continues at Genoa Public Library

GENOA — Our summer reading program has begun! The older kids met on Wednesday, June 7 and the little ones met on Thursday, June 8! We read the book Mixed! by Arree Chung. After the story, we made our own mixed community artwork display.

Genoa church is closing

GENOA— After 139 years the Genoa United Methodist Church is closing. Last service will be June 25 at 1 p.m. District Superintendent Charles Murithi will conduct the closing ceremony. The community is invited to attend this service and take a final look at the church.

Genoa receives $500 grant

The City of Genoa recently used funds from a $500 Lean on LARM Safety Grant towards the purchase of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Katie Ferris, City treasurer, applied for the funds so that an AED would be available at the city’s ballfields.

Proclaim Ministry Team: Traveling and Singing

“The experience of traveling with Proclaim this summer—I wouldn’t trade for anything,” a student said. “It is so amazing to see God work through me to give hope and encouragement to other people.” That’s the testimony of one of the young people from Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, Fla.

Blood drive held in Fullerton

Fullerton Bloodmobile was held June 6. A total of 42 units was collected, well below our quota. Those giving double units were Doug Cornwell, Jack Nelson of Belgrade, and Mary Lou Rupp of Genoa. Paige Horn was a first time donor. We are so very grateful for our loyal donors.
