Birds of a Feather

The Fullerton Public Library welcomed Deb Miller and the birds from the Edgerton Explorit Center this week for the Elementary Summer Reading program. Close to 30 kids were on hand for this week’s program. Each Tuesday the library has a different program for area children to attend.

Grillers needed for Pork in the Park

GENOA — Calling all grillers. Show off your culinary skills in this year’s Pork in the Park. Want to Join In the Fun? Pork in the Park returns to Genoa on July 29 and is a fundraiser for Genoa Rescue.

Farmers look to the skies to fight drought conditions

All eyes are on the skies. Despite rainfall in recent days, area farmers are having to weigh their options as they plan their farm season. A drier than normal April and May around central Nebraska could affect crop yields come harvest time.

Street Dance returns on Saturday

FULLERTON — It’s going to be a hot night on Broadway Street this Saturday for the 7th annual Firemen Street Dance Fundraiser. Volunteers with the Fullerton fire department organize this event each year, which brings in funds for the department and brings the community together.

Pool opened Monday, greeted by line of children

FULLERTON — It took a few days longer than expected, but Fullerton residents can dive on in. The Fullerton Community Swimming Pool opened on Monday and Pool Manager Michelle Sonderup said a line was waiting for them to open their doors for the season.

Fullerton student named to Wayne’s RHOP

WAYNE – Wayne State College announces that 48 students, including one from Fullerton, have been chosen for the highly selective Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP) for Fall 2023.

UNK announces spring semester dean’s list

KEARNEY – The University of Nebraska at Kearney announced students who earned a place on the dean’s list for the spring 2023 semester. Students who are on the dean’s list must have completed 12 credit hours or more of classes with a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale.

Bake sale supports mission trip

A bake sale and lunch will be held Friday at the Fullerton Community Room. All proceeds from the event will go toward Victory Baptist Church’s upcoming mission trip to Oaxaca, Mexico. The church is sending a team to Mexico from June 21 to June 28.

Area students receive special recognition

COLUMBUS – Special recognition awards were presented at the 2023 Student Recognition and Awards Convocation at Central Community College-Columbus. Appreciation awards were presented to students who were officers, active members or award winners in various campus organizations.
