Summer fun continues at Genoa Public Library

GENOA — Our summer reading program has begun! The older kids met on Wednesday, June 7 and the little ones met on Thursday, June 8! We read the book Mixed! by Arree Chung. After the story, we made our own mixed community artwork display.

Genoa church is closing

GENOA— After 139 years the Genoa United Methodist Church is closing. Last service will be June 25 at 1 p.m. District Superintendent Charles Murithi will conduct the closing ceremony. The community is invited to attend this service and take a final look at the church.

Genoa receives $500 grant

The City of Genoa recently used funds from a $500 Lean on LARM Safety Grant towards the purchase of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Katie Ferris, City treasurer, applied for the funds so that an AED would be available at the city’s ballfields.

Blood drive held in Fullerton

Fullerton Bloodmobile was held June 6. A total of 42 units was collected, well below our quota. Those giving double units were Doug Cornwell, Jack Nelson of Belgrade, and Mary Lou Rupp of Genoa. Paige Horn was a first time donor. We are so very grateful for our loyal donors.

The Fullerton Public Library welcomed Deb Miller and the birds from the Edgerton Explorit Center this week for the Elementary Summer Reading program. Close to 30 kids were on hand for this week’s program. Each Tuesday the library has a different program for area children to attend.

FULLERTON — It’s going to be a hot night on Broadway Street this Saturday for the 7th annual Firemen Street Dance Fundraiser. Volunteers with the Fullerton fire department organize this event each year, which brings in funds for the department and brings the community together.
