Boone County Health Center welcomes 2026 New Year’s baby

ALBION — Boone County Health Center is pleased to welcome its 2026 New Year’s baby, Eleanor Rose Voichahoske. Eleanor made her arrival on Jan. 6 under the care of Dr. Dodds, weighing 5 pounds, 10 ounces, and measuring 19 ¾ inches long.

Election season underway

Boone County Health Center hosts Green Dot training

ALBION – Boone County Health Center (BCHC) will host its first Green Dot Bystander Intervention Training on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, from noon to 3 p.m. at Boone County Health Center. The training is free and open to the public, and a light lunch will be provided.

First-in-the-nation waiver restricting soda and energy drinks from SNAP took effect Jan. 1

LINCOLN — In April 2025, Governor Jim Pillen signed a letter of intent seeking a waiver from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to remove soda and energy drinks from the list of items eligible for purchase through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
