Gov. Pillen issues new order rescinding burn ban

LINCOLN — Today, Governor Jim Pillen rescinded his most recently issued burn ban, which clears the way for burn permits to be issued through the authority of local fire chiefs or designated department members.

Loup Power District earns national award

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Loup Power District has earned the American Public Power Association’s Safety Award of Excellence for safe operating practices in 2025. The utility earned a Gold award in the category for utilities with 110,000 to 249,999 worker-hours of exposure.

Pillen discusses dismissal of detention facility lawsuit

LINCOLN — Governor Jim Pillen provided the following statement upon dismissal of a lawsuit filed in Red Willow County challenging the authority of the state to enter into a contract with the Department of Homeland Security to utilize the Work Ethic Camp in McCook as a detention facility.

Fullerton, Twin River students earn medals at Speech State

KEARNEY — Nance County was well-represented at the State Speech meet.On Saturday, Fullerton’s Everett Gleason and Lylla Sabata competed in the Class D Speech Competition. Sabata was the runner-up in Persuasive Speaking and finished fifth in Extemporaneous Speaking.
