Extension board seeks members

The Boone County Board of Commissioners and Nance County Board of Supervisors seek community members to serve on the Boone-Nance County Extension Board. Vacancies will be filled with three-year appointments beginning January 2026.

Businesses compete, food pantries are winners

ALBION — Applied Connective Technologies and Valero Renewables Albion faced off again this year to collect food and other necessities for local food pantries. The heated annual competition concluded on Sept. 26, using the renewable plant’s scales to determine the winner.

Twin River FFA ready to Feed the Farmers

GENOA— Twin River students are finalizing plans to feed farmers on Oct. 17.The Twin River FFA chapter is gearing up for their annual Feed The Farmer event. Farmers can get a meal from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17 at the Frontier Co-Op in Silver Creek and Central Valley Ag in Monroe.

NSP bomb squad, National Guard handle grenades found in Lincoln

LINCOLN  — The Nebraska State Patrol Bomb Squad and members of the Nebraska Air National Guard’s 155th EOD unit safely disposed of four grenades found in a home in Lincoln.Tuesday morning, a Lincoln resident found four old hand grenades among the belongings of an elderly family member.
