Bird flu detected in Nance County

LINCOLN — The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA), in conjunction with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has detected the first cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in 2025.

Twin River begins superintendent search

GENOA— Twin River Schools will be looking for a new superintendent.Chris Lecher, who was brought in on a one-year contract as interim superintendent, will leave the district when his contract expires in June. He had previously indicated he would like to stay with the district long-term.

New officers were elected at the Cornhusker Public Power District Board meeting on January 20, 2025.Jon Gehring, rural Platte Center, was elected president. He was appointed to the board in January 2017.
