Russell Dean Christensen

Russell Dean Christensen, 68, of Belgrade, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, at his home.

To honor Russ’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life open house will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, from 2-6 p.m. at his home, 123 S A St., Belgrade, NE 68623. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is serving the family.

Russ was born Oct. 15, 1957, to Carl and Minerva (Coen) Christensen in Columbus. He grew up in Columbus and began his career at D&L, now known as Camaco, where he worked as a quality engineer. It was there that he met Roseanna Greger. The couple was married on Dec. 26, 1978, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Columbus. Shortly after their marriage, they made their home in Belgrade.

Throughout his working years, Russ was employed at several area businesses, including Lindsay Manufacturing and Penne Well Drilling. He spent the last 26 years of his career at ADM, where he loaded trucks.

Russ had a passion for cars and could often be found working on vehicles. He also enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels and Dale Earnhardt memorabilia. He was a lover of music, especially rock. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Roseanna of Belgrade; children, April (Jimmy) Beck of Bellwood, Michelle Perkowski of Belgrade, Stacey (Matt) Matulka of Seward, Shane (Kari) Christensen of Belgrade, and Deanna Schilousky of Belgrade; 14 grandchildren, Ashley Beck, Andrew Beck, Adam Beck, Kadin Davis, Conner Davis, Brian Davis, Makennah Matulka, Dakotah Matulka, Logan Christensen, Lane Christensen, Liam Christensen, Marley Schilousky, Creed Schilousky, and Odin Hansen; four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Emma, Tara, and Alice; sister, Joyce (Wayne) Lukert of David City; brother-in-law, Allen (Terri) Hastings of Albion, Ill.; sister-in-law, Mary Christensen of Columbus;  and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, David; brother, Eldon Chris Christensen; sisters, Connie Wais and Jeanette Hastings; son-in-law, Ed Perkowski; and nephews, Kenny Christensen and John Wayne Lukert.
