Charles Gerry McIntyre

Charles Gerry McIntyre, 91, of Fullerton, passed away Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026, at his home.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, 2026, at Fullerton Community Church in Fullerton, with Pastor Vern Olson officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at Main Cemetery in Belgrade. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Fullerton Rescue Squad and Fullerton Volunteer Fire Department. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is serving the family.

Gerry was born Aug. 2, 1935, to Ernest and Olga (Hellbusch) McIntyre at St. Mary’s Hospital in Columbus. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church at Timber Creek. Gerry lived in Columbus for a few years before his family moved to La Feria, Texas, while his father was stationed at Fort Brownsville. At age 12, the family moved to Nance County, where Gerry attended country school and graduated from Belgrade High School in 1953.

While in high school, Gerry participated in track and basketball, qualifying for the state track meet and becoming a member of the 1953 state basketball team. Following graduation, he helped tear down a barn on 72nd Street in Omaha and later worked in Grand Island, helping construct underpasses and Grand Island Senior High School.

During high school, Gerry met the love of his life, Marilyn Ann Channer. The couple was united in marriage on May 15, 1956, at the United Methodist Church in Belgrade and made their home on a farm south of North Star. They were blessed with two children, Rosanne and Kevin. Gerry and Marilyn moved to Fullerton in 1992.

Gerry farmed for nearly 50 years before retiring. In retirement, he spent many years delivering cattle chutes for Dubas Equipment. He enjoyed traveling and had a passion for working on cars. Gerry could fix just about anything, whether repairing tractors, remodeling houses, or building cupboards. Gerry was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Fullerton and later Fullerton Community Church.

Gerry is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marilyn of Fullerton; daughter, Rosanne (James) Cunningham of Kearney; son, Kevin (Jeannie) McIntyre of O’Dell; four grandchildren, Beth Anne Cunningham of Lincoln, Benjamin Cunningham of Kearney, Devin McIntyre of Kearney, and Kerstin McIntyre of O’Dell; sister, Colleen Chase of Bullhead City, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Sandra McIntyre of Camp Verde, Ariz.; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene McIntyre; and sister, Patricia (LaVerne) Meisinger.
