Carol was born May 23, 1934, to Ralph and Mona (Zimmerle) Neumann in Wolbach. She grew up in Nance County and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1951. She married Ralph Cox at the United Methodist Church in Fullerton on Aug. 26, 1951. They made their home in Fullerton, where their four children were born. She began working for Wayne Nicholls Insurance Agency in the early 1960s as a secretary along with him being the Nance County superintendent of schools. When he retired, she became secretary for Lyle Casper at the courthouse. When Ralph's health led to an early retirement, the couple relocated to Grand Island and began spending winters in Harlingen, Texas, a tradition they enjoyed for 25 years. After Ralph’s passing, Carol moved to Valley View Assisted Living in Fullerton.

Carol was an exceptional cook, known especially for her pies, which she sold to the Corner Café for a dollar each. She also made special birthday cakes for her children. A talented seamstress, she sewed clothes for her kids as well as outfits for Barbie dolls. Carol was an avid bowler, competing in both state and national tournaments. A dedicated lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, she was involved in many church activities — teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and helping with funeral meals. Her love of music extended into her later years, when she sang with the Interfaith Inspirational Singers. Carol was also a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She cherished attending her children and grandchildren’s events, and she and Ralph enjoyed traveling with close friends to out-of-state Nebraska football games.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Gary) Reiss of Grand Island, Lisa (Russ) Jacobi of Clarks, and Beth (Dan) Small of Hastings; son, Randy (Kim Dubas) Cox of Fullerton; 11 grandchildren, Cory Reiss, Amy Otto, Carol Engel, Summer Nunnenkamp, Paige Albers, Andrew Small, Samuel Small, Justin Small, Zachary Small, Steve Cox, and Darcy Aerni; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Lois Russell; and sister-in-law, Gwen Neumann.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; her parents; sisters, Doris Babb, Rosalie Regan, and Mary Lynn Lucas; and brother, Dale Neumann
