It’s hard to be tolerant of all the intolerance

The world is changing . . . and not for the better. My kids recently found some of my old yearbooks from when I was in school. They enjoyed thumbing through the books and trying to find me.I’ll admit, it brings back good memories. Friends I have not seen in years, some I will never see again.

An ode to farmers

Spring in Nebraska brings the sight and sounds of tractors in the fields and the smell of freshly tilled earth. The truly oldest profession is farming! Right away in Genesis 2:15, God puts Adam in the garden to “work it and take care of it.

Welcome to a new corner of your newspaper. For years, this column has been called “Capitol View” and for the past several years, it’s been written by J.L. Schmidt, an old buddy and former Associated Press reporter at the Lincoln Bureau who could turn a phrase or two.

Letter to the Editor

Eating ‘blue pizza’

When our son was three years old, he was a horribly picky eater. If he could just eat mac and cheese, hot dogs, and pizza, then life was fine. But that mac and cheese had to be from a box, the hot dogs had to be the right color, and he would not eat anything but “blue pizza.
