City falls prey to wire fraud scheme

FULLERTON — The city of Fullerton is cooperating with the Nebraska State Patrol regarding a $174,086.55 wire fraud scheme.The Fullerton City Attorney Katie Sharp released the following statement:The City of Fullerton announced that it fell victim to a sophisticated wire fraud scheme.

Fullerton grad crowned Swedish Festival king

STROMSBURG — A Fullerton grad was crowned Swedish Festival king on Friday in Stromsburg. The following is the biography that was read at his coronation: Steve R. Dubas, youngest child of seven, was born to Steve and Mildred Dubas of Fullerton. He graduated from Fullerton High School in 1989.

Standoff in Fremont comes to safe conclusion Sunday

FREMONT — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested one person after a standoff in Fremont overnight Saturday into Sunday.Saturday at approximately 11 p.m., Fremont Police officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 1200 block of North L Street.

Ready, set, duck!

COLUMBUS — Duck, Duck…Duck? The Columbus Area United Way is preparing for their annual Duck Race. Duck Race kickoff will be held on Thursday, June 11th from 5-7 p.m. at three area locations. The locations selling tickets this year are Big 10 Sports Bar & Grill, Bo’s West, and Cork & Barrel.

Work will begin on US-30, east of Central City

GRAND ISLAND — Weather permitting, work will begin on June 8 on U.S. Highway 30, from reference post 337.82 to reference post 346.05, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.Werner Construction, Inc., of Hastings, is the contractor for this project.
