County seeks election workers

Nance County election officials are currently looking for a few good men . . . and women. Nance County Clerk Adrian Chlopek said that she needs four workers at each of the county’s four precincts. The county has a fifth precinct that is handled entirely through the mail.

Ramaekers wins Sheaf of Wheat Award

Columbus Community Hospital recently presented Melissa Ramaekers with the Sheaf of Wheat Award for hospital employees who make lasting impressions on patients or their families. Ramaekers is a registered respiratory therapist with the hospital.

Lower Loup NRD announces Photo Contest

ORD — The Lower Loup Natural Resources District (LLNRD) is now accepting entries for its 2024 LLNRD Photo Contest. The intent of the contest is to inspire photographers of every level to visit LLNRD recreation areas and to explore the scenic district.

Postal workers ready for holidays

FULLERTON — It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. “Thanksgiving to Christmas it gets insane,” Postmaster Tom Bates said. “We are starting to see the uptick now but after Thanksgiving is when it really picks up.” Employees at Fullerton’s post office are gearing up for a busy holiday season.

Local kennel to play host to national championship

FULLERTON — GoodLife Kennels in conjunction with The Kingdom Outfitters will be hosting the 60th Anniversary of the English Springer Spaniel Field Trial Association National Amateur Championship in Central Nebraska. In 2017 Collin Pickrel founded GoodLife Kennels.

FULLERTON — With Thanksgiving this week, those planning on hosting a festive gathering are no doubt eyeing grocery store prices to gauge how much their meal is going to cost this year. In the past year inflation has increased food prices by an average of 3.7%. That is on top of the 9.

Public Power District awards grants to help communities

Cornhusker Power Goodwill Fund trustees awarded $3,100 to 16 organizations at the November 6 meeting. Cornhusker Public Power District CEO/GM Clay Gibbs said, “These organizations are doing great things in the community, and we are very proud to be a part of it.
