Experienced Titans have win-now mentality

GENOA — After three straight seasons as district runners-up, the Titans are tired of being on the outside looking in for the elusive trip to Hastings.It’s been 10 years since Twin River earned a trip to State. This year’s squad has the experience needed to punch their tickets to get back to State.

Titan season ends at District Final

CENTRAL CITY— The Titans season ended on Friday, two wins short of a bid to State in Hastings. Central City swept Twin River in two games. The Bison defeated the Titans 8-6 in game one and 16-5 in game two.Twin River hammered out 9 hits in game one.

LINCOLN — Bring on Central City.Twin River defeated top-seeded Malcolm on Monday night to win the C-10 Sub-District at Sandhills Global Youth Complex in Lincoln. The Titans defense bent but did not break in their 14-13 championship game win.

ORD — It’s a milestone that has been looming all season. On Tuesday, Twin River coach Renae Van Driel surpassed the 450-win plateau. She currently sits with a record of 450-231 in 22 seasons.The Titans cruised to an 11-0 win over Ord.

GENOA — Twin River picked up a pair of wins last week as the Titans eye the end of the regular season.Twin River earned a 10-5 win over St. Paul on Thursday. On Tuesday, they picked up an 11-3 win over Pierce.

GENOA — Twin River junior JLee Van Driel will trade in her Titan pinstripes for Jayhawk blue.The Titan’s softball standout announced her verbal commitment to the University of Kansas over the weekend. Van Driel said she plans to sign with the program during the November early signing period.
