There are a lot of talented athletes in Nance County.Each week throughout the school year we chose two athletes (and sometimes more) and recognized them for their achievements that previous week. Sometimes the choices were obvious — breaking a school record or winning a state title.

Tate Wood PRs at State meet

KEARNEY — What a way to finish the season.Tate Wood finished the 2025 cross country season the same way he finished the 2024 season — with a PR at State. The Fullerton junior finished 77th overall, with a time of 18:39.

Tate Wood is State Bound

FULLERTON — Tate Wood is heading back to the state cross country meet.The Fullerton junior will return to Kearney Country Club on Friday for the Class D State Cross Country Championships. This is the second year in a row that Wood qualified for the state meet.

Warriors medal at conference

FULLERTON — The Warriors had a strong showing at the Goldenrod Conference meet on Thursday.Five of the six Fullerton runners received medals at the meet held at Pawnee Hills Golf Course in Fullerton. Tate Wood and Jacob Maxfield earned medals in the boys’ race.

Titans, Warriors run at Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK — Fullerton and Twin River ran at the Battle Creek Invite on Friday.Elena Reimer was Fullerton’s top girl finisher, coming in at 46th overall with a time of 28:35.Kate Tasler of Laurel-Concord-Coleridge won the girls race with a time of 21:31.

Warriors run at Ravenna Invite

RAVENNA — Fullerton traveled to the Ravenna Golf Club on Thursday for the Ravenna Invite.The boys team finished 15th overall. Doniphan-Trumbull took home the team title. The girls team did not have three runners to post a team score. Kearney Catholic took home the girls team title.

Warriors shorthanded at invite

LOUP CITY — The Warriors were running short-handed last week at the Rebel Invite at the Loup City Golf Course.Both the boys and girls teams were down a runner, keeping Fullerton from placing in the team standings. Kenesaw took home the boys team title and Elm Creek took home the girls team title.
Taylor Cook finished 32nd overall with a time of 29:54.

Titans, Warriors hit ground running in St. Paul

ST. PAUL — Fullerton and Twin River opened their cross country seasons at the St. Paul Invite at the St. Paul Country Club.The event was moved from Miletta Vista Winery a week early because there were still cows in the field. The change of venue worked out in favor of the runners.

Warriors hit the ground running

FULLERTON — The season may have just started, but the Warriors are already hitting the ground running.This fall, each cross country team will feature three runners. On the girls’ side, senior Elena Reimer and junior Delylla Olson are joined by sophomore newcomer Taylor Cook.
