COUNTY CLASH

SILVER CREEK — Thursday’s matchup between Fullerton and Twin River had a lot on the line.Wins have been hard to come by for both teams, so the chance to walk away with a win was important. To have that win come at the hands of a county rival, that was a bonus.

Van Driel chooses Jayhawks

GENOA — Twin River junior JLee Van Driel will trade in her Titan pinstripes for Jayhawk blue.The Titan’s softball standout announced her verbal commitment to the University of Kansas over the weekend. Van Driel said she plans to sign with the program during the November early signing period.

Big plays doom Titans

LEIGH — Clarkson/Leigh used big play after big play to take control of Friday’s matchup with Twin River early.The Patriots only needed one play on each of the first three drives to find the endzone.

Titans fall to Crusaders, Bluehawks

DONIPHAN — The Titans’ late-inning rally fell short on Thursday.Class C No. 9 Twin River scored 2 runs in the top of the seventh inning but could not tie the game as Grand Island Central Catholic escaped with an 8-7 win.

Titans run at O’Neill Invite

O’NEILL — Twin River traveled to the O’Neill Country Club for the O’Neill Invite on Friday.The Titans finished 10th overall. Pierce took home the team title, edging Bloomfield-Wausa and O’Neill.Micah Stenzel was Twin River’s top runner, finishing 47th overall with a time of 21:12.

Titans win defensive battle

GENOA — The Titans has shown they can put up a lot of points this season. On Friday they showed they can win a defensive battle.Twin River (2-1) earned a Homecoming win, defeating Heartland 28-16.“It was a gutsy performance,” Twin River coach Kalin Koch said.

Titans runner-up at invite

COLUMBUS — Class C No. 9 Twin River finished as runner-up at the Lakeview Invite over the weekend.The Titans defeated Adams Central 14-1 and Lakeview 13-6 before falling to York 6-2. Earlier in the week, Twin River picked up wins over Polk County (16-14) and Highway 91 (12-1).

Titans top Mustangs for first win of season

DAYKIN — The Titans picked up their first win of the season — and nearly walked away with two.Twin River split a triangular on Thursday at Meridian, falling 28-26, 25-23 to the host and defeating McCool Junction 25-17, 25-14.
